Language Stay in Malta for over-30s

Our partner school, EC Malta English School, belongs to the eponymous international group, the EC Group, a renowned group with 16 schools in 6 countries. It’s interesting to note that the group’s headquarters are located in Malta.

The language center in Malta has the unique feature of offering classes dedicated to students over 30 within an independent structure called the “Language House.” This unique feature allows students already established in their careers to have a more “mature” environment, leading to better learning and easier integration.

The school is located in St. Julian’s and is part of one of the largest structures on the island. It can accommodate hundreds of students over the age of thirty, of all levels, and from all corners of the world. This is a significant advantage regardless of your language proficiency level.

English courses dedicated to linguistic stays for those over 30 are offered in two course formats: General English, commonly referred to as GE20 (15 hours of classes per week), and Intensive English, commonly referred to as GE30 (22 hours and 30 minutes of classes per week).

Classes are conducted in small groups, with a maximum of 12 students per class, all of whom are over 30 years old. The average age of students ranges from 45 to 50 years.

Students are placed in classes based on their proficiency level and progress to higher levels by changing classes as they advance. The classes are interactive, with a particular focus on oral expression, participation, and interaction among students. The level-based classes and minimum age create a conducive environment for learning and speaking practice.

Our language stay packages for adults over 30 are offered with a choice of shared accommodation (shared apartment in a co-living model with other students) or with a host family. The apartments are fully equipped and located between 5 and 25 minutes’ walk from the school.

A comprehensive program of activities is dedicated to students over 30 years old. Each week, you will find new cultural activities and excursions throughout the Maltese archipelago (Malta / Gozo and Comino). The proposed activities are optional and can take place in the morning or afternoon, depending on the course schedules.

Organized activities are an effective way to practice English and make new connections with fellow students. However, participation in these activities is optional, and each student is free to join or not. It’s important to note that some activities are free, while others may have a fee.

Flights are not included in our adult language stay packages. Arrivals for language stays in Malta can be scheduled for Saturdays or Sundays. In case you have difficulty finding a flight during the weekend, it’s possible to plan an arrival or departure on a Friday or Monday. Please consult your Maltadvice advisor to check the available options.

Transportation upon arrival between the airport and accommodation is automatically provided in the stay package. Arrivals in Malta can be at any time of the day or night. Other transportation within Malta remains the responsibility of the student. Return transportation between accommodation and the Malta airport can be arranged for an additional fee.

For enrollment in the language stay, a simple copy of your identification document will be required. To travel to Malta, you will need a valid identification document (identity card or passport) if you are a national of a European Union, Schengen Area, or Swiss country.

For students outside the European Union, you will generally need to apply for a visa at the consulate or embassy of Malta in your country, if available, or alternatively, at a French embassy. You will need to present a document called the “Letter of Acceptance” (LoA), which confirms your enrollment in courses and accommodation. This document will be provided by your advisor.
